Who’s Who in the George Milton trial: Slim Johnson

Who is he?

Slim Johnson is a jerkline skinner on the Tyler Ranch. He is 32 years old and was born in California. He has been working at the Tyler Ranch for the past seven years. He is a very respected person on the Tyler Ranch and he is well liked among the other ranch hands.

 

How’s he involved?

Slim worked on the Tyler’s Ranch with both the victim Lennie Small and the defendant

George Milton. He was a witness to the murder and saw “George sitting next to Lennie and Lennie lying in the sand, dead.” He arrived at the scene of the crime with other witnesses; Curley Tyler and Carlson Smith. When asked how he felt about the murder he said, “I knew it was going to happen, so I was more sad than in shock.” Slim knew George pretty well and got along with George since the day he arrived on the ranch. During the trial he will most likely defend George, saying that he killed Lennie to protect him from what would have happened to him if he was caught. He will probably also talk about the fact that Lennie killed Rachel Tyler.
