Who’s Who in the George Milton Trial: Marie Jones
By Joy He
Who is she?
Marie Jones is an 18 year old girl who bucks barley in Weed, which was Milton and Small’s previous employment location. She was born in Seaside, California. Although she seems like a normal young woman, she actually has a lot to offer in George Milton’s trial.
How is she involved?
Marie has joined the prosecution side for the George Milton Trial. This has come as a surprise to many, considering the fact that she was put in danger by Small (the victim of Milton) when he allegedly grabbed onto her dress and tried to sexually assault her. The young girl from Weed had a lot of interesting points when she was interviewed this past Thursday. When asked why she thought Milton was guilty she stated that when Lennie latched onto her garments, George came over with a picket fence and gave Lennie several blows to the head. She believes that George has always had an animus feeling towards Lennie and repeatedly said that it was Lennie’s choice if he wanted to be killed or not but George murdered without his permission. The media and citizens of the Salinas Valley are excited to hear more from Marie as the trial goes on.
